India and Bangladesh postpone cricket tour to 2026
India's six‑match white‑ball cricket tour of Bangladesh next month has been postponed to 2026, both cricket boards said Saturday. The series, including three one-day and three T20 matches, had been due to start on August 17 in Dhaka. Political relations between India and Bangladesh have turned frosty since a mass uprising last year in Dhaka toppled then prime minister Sheikh Hasina. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have "mutually agreed to defer" the series, the statement read. It said the decision was made "taking into account the international cricketing commitments and scheduling convenience of both teams", without giving further details. It added that Bangladesh's BCB "looks forward to welcoming India in September 2026", with exact fixtures to be released later. There is deep anger in Dhaka at the fate of Hasina, who escaped a student-led uprising by helicopter in August 2024 and flew to New Delhi. Up to 1,400 people were killed between July and August last year, according to the United Nations, when Hasina's government ordered a crackdown on protesters in a failed bid to cling to power. Elections are expected in early 2026.

Heat advisory issued for most of Massachusetts through Monday; maps show how hot it will feel
After a relatively comfortable July 4th, the extreme heat is returning to Massachusetts and the National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory because of how hot it will feel through Monday. The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for most of southern New England Sunday at 7 a.m. through Monday at 8 p.m., given the threat for heat indices of 95-100 degrees. This system is not expected to gain too much more strength aside from having a steady rainy and windy thumbprint as it crawls up the Atlantic seaboard. However, an approaching cold front from the west will nudge this system back east but also cause steadier rain and rumbles throughout Tuesday late afternoon and evening. This will begin a thread of wet weather and cloudy cover mid to late week next week.

More than 20 arrests at protest in support of banned Palestine Action
The Metropolitan Police posted on X on Saturday afternoon saying officers were responding to the demonstration in Parliament Square and making arrests. Palestine Action lost a late-night Court of Appeal challenge on Friday which sought to stop the protest group being banned, less than two hours before the new legislation came into force at midnight. The move to ban the organisation was announced after two Voyager aircraft were damaged at RAF Brize Norton in Oxfordshire on June 20, an incident claimed by Palestine Action, which police said caused around £7 million of damage. The force posted on X saying: 'Officers are responding to a protest in support of Palestine Action in Parliament Square. 'The group is now proscribed and expressing support for them is a criminal offence. Arrests are being made. 'Further updates will be shared here.' 'They have been taken into custody. 'Palestine Action is a proscribed group and officers will act where criminal offences are committed.' A group had earlier said it was set to gather in Parliament Square on Saturday holding signs supporting Palestine Action, according to campaign group Defend Our Juries. 'This protest is necessary to defend our democracy, and this is the creeping edge of totalitarianism, frankly. 'We thought they (the police) would probably take pictures of people. It's the obvious thing to do, to photograph them, then they have their identity, rather than make arrests.' MPs in the Commons voted 385 to 26, majority 359, in favour of proscribing the group on Wednesday, before the House of Lords backed the move without a vote on Thursday. Four people – Amy Gardiner-Gibson, 29, Jony Cink, 24, Daniel Jeronymides-Norie, 36, and Lewis Chiaramello, 22 – have all been charged in connection with the incident at RAF Brize Norton. They appeared at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Thursday after being charged with conspiracy to enter a prohibited place knowingly for a purpose prejudicial to the safety or interests of the United Kingdom, and conspiracy to commit criminal damage, under the Criminal Law Act 1977.

Chelsea complete signing of winger Jamie Gittens from Borussia Dortmund
The winger has agreed a seven-year contract with the Blues, but will be ineligible to play in the remainder of their Club World Cup campaign after he featured for the German outfit. Gittens made 76 Bundesliga appearances for Dortmund, scoring 12 goals, and also played in their Champions League campaigns. The 20-year-old becomes the third player to arrive at Stamford Bridge over the summer following the earlier captures of Liam Delap from Ipswich and Brighton's Joao Pedro. 'It feels great,' Gittens told Chelsea's website. 'It's a great feeling to join such a big club as Chelsea. Owen Farrell watched from the stands as the British and Irish Lions laboured to a 21-10 victory over New South Wales Waratahs in what was comfortably their worst performance since arriving in Australia. A fortnight out from the first Test against the Wallabies and the Lions struggled to put away a side that finished eighth in the Super Rugby table and had lost five of their last six matches. Even the arrival of a heavyweight bench could not provide the lift Andy Farrell's men needed at Allianz Stadium and a dismal second-half made for grim viewing with Alex Mitchell's 55th-minute try at least providing some breathing space. Only Scotland centres Sione Tuipulotu and Huw Jones and props Pierre Schoeman and Finlay Bealham distinguished themselves with the impressive Jones finishing with two tries, lifting his total for the tour to three. The former England captain smiled as he was booed and cheered when shown on the big screen, with team-mate Will Stuart comically joining the jeering coming from home fans. Jones crossed after being sent through a gap with a short pass from his Scotland centre colleague and then powered over for a second having also made the initial carry that drove the hosts backwards. Waratahs openside Charlie Gamble had seen a try chalked off for offside at the line-out but his team eventually succeeded in the 35th minute when Darby Lancaster capitalised on hesitant defending on the Lions' right wing. Hugo Keenan was enduring a nightmare debut after making error after error but he was far from alone as the familiar theme of dropped passes and poor handling continued to haunt Farrell's men. They led just 14-5 at the interval and when Ethan Dobbin finished a maul try one minute into the second half they suddenly found themselves in a tight spot, playing poorly against a side that was scrapping for everything. Mitchell settled the nerves when he took advantage of an overlap to dummy his way over and the Lions were unable to break through again in a desperately scrappy final quarter.
